Should Your Company Livestream Its Next Conference?
Livestreaming can open a conference to people who cannot be in the room, but that does not mean every event needs to go live.
It works best when there is a clear audience outside the venue. A keynote, product announcement, leadership panel, or industry discussion may have value well beyond the people who registered in person.
The mistake is treating a livestream like a camera pointed at the stage. Online viewers need clear audio, intentional framing, graphics when appropriate, and a program that makes sense without being physically present.
There is also the question of what happens afterward. A livestream can become an on-demand recording, shorter speaker clips, internal communications, or follow-up content for attendees who missed a session.
Before adding livestreaming to the production plan, ask one simple question: who needs to see this who will not be in the room?
If there is a strong answer, going live may be worth it.
